[FA] Samsung The Frame Installation Guide: Tips for a Flush Look

Samsung's "The Frame" is the gold standard for design-focused living rooms. When off, it looks like a museum piece, displaying curated art with a matte finish. But here is the secret: it only looks good if it is installed perfectly flush against the wall. A 1cm gap ruins the illusion. If you install it like a regular TV, it just looks like... a regular TV.

Installing The Frame (LS03B/D Series) is completely different from installing a standard VESA-mounted TV. It uses proprietary hardware, requires millimeter-precision measurement, and involves managing a delicate fiber-optic tether. Here is our expert guide to getting that gallery finish.

1. The 'No Gap' Wall Mount

Every Frame TV comes with Samsung's proprietary "Slim Fit" wall mount in the box. Do not throw this away! You cannot use a standard universal mount if you want the flush look.

  • Two-Piece System: Instead of one big plate, you install two small brackets on the wall and two hooks on the back of the TV.
  • The Challenge: Because the brackets are separate, they must be perfectly level with each other. If one is 2mm higher than the other, your TV will look crooked.
  • Drywall Quality: The mount pulls the TV huge tight against the wall. If your drywall has a bow or a bump (which most do), the TV might not snap in, or it might rock. We sometimes have to shim the brackets to compensate for wavy walls.

2. Hiding the One Connect Box

This is where DIYers get stuck. The Frame TV has ZERO HDMI ports on the back. It relies on a separate "One Connect Box" linked by a thin, transparent fiber-optic cable. You have to put this box somewhere.

Option A: Media Cabinet (Easiest)

Place the box in a console below the TV. The clear wire runs down the wall. It is "invisible" to the casual glance, but you can still see it if you look closely.

Option B: In-Wall Media Box (The Pro Way)

For a truly wireless "magic" look, you need to hide the box behind the TV. But wait—the TV is flush to the wall! There is no room behind it!

The Fix: We cut a large 14"x14" hole in the drywall between the studs and install a recessed Legrand media box inside the wall depth. We place the One Connect Box inside this recessed cavity. The TV then sits flat over the hole, completely hiding everything. This requires knowing exactly where your studs are to ensure the box fits.

Option C: Remote Closet

The fiber cable is 5 meters (16ft) long. You can run the cable through the wall to a nearby closet or basement rack. Note: The plug end is large, so you need 1.5-inch conduit.

3. Art Mode Settings

Once mounted, the illusion depends on brightness calibration.
Brightness Layout: Use the SmartThings app to lower the brightness. If it's too bright, it looks like a screen. If it's dim, it looks like canvas.
Motion Sensor: Set the sensor to turn off the art when no one is in the room to save energy.

4. The Bezel

The TV comes black. You can buy magnetic "bezels" in Teak, Walnut, White, or Gold. These snap on instantly and are essential for the art look. We recommend buying the bezel after the install to match your room's final lighting.

Conclusion

The Frame is unforgiving. If you mis-measure by half an inch, the "Art" looks crooked. If you pinch the fiber cable, you are out $300.
